Terms and conditions

What you agree to when you buy a book, publish a book, or hold an account here.

Who we are

Inkcrest Publishing operates this website and the bookstore on it. We are based in Nigeria. You can reach us at inkcrestpublishing@gmail.com or on 0708 051 1437; the contact for the business is Nnabuike Omeje.

By creating an account, buying a book or publishing one, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Your account

You need an account to buy or publish. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for anything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.

You must give accurate registration details. Authors additionally complete identity verification (KYC) before they can publish or be paid, because we are required to know who we are sending money to.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used fraudulently, or is used to upload work the person does not own.

Buying a book

Prices are listed in US dollars and converted to your local currency at the rate in force when the page loads. The amount shown at checkout is the amount your card is charged; the converted figure is a conversion of the dollar list price, not a separate price.

Books are digital goods delivered to your account immediately after payment. A purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to read or listen to that book. It does not transfer ownership or copyright, and you may not resell, share, re-upload or redistribute the file.

Each purchase allows up to three downloads of the file. Your library and the in-browser reader remain available to your account regardless of how many downloads you have used.

Refunds

Because books are delivered immediately, purchases are final once the book is in your library.

We will refund you where something went wrong on our side: you were charged more than once for the same book, payment was taken but the book never reached your library, or the file is faulty, incomplete or not the work described. Write to us at inkcrestpublishing@gmail.com within 14 days of the purchase with your order details and we will investigate.

A refund is returned to the card or account you paid from. We do not refund a book simply because you have finished reading it or changed your mind about the subject matter.

Our refund policy, linked at the foot of this page and in the site footer, sets out the grounds, the timing and how to ask, in full.

Publishing as an author

You keep the copyright in everything you publish here. By uploading, you grant us the licence we need to store your work and sell it to readers on your behalf, and to show its cover, title and description in the store and in marketing for the store.

You confirm that you own the work or have the rights to publish it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, defame anyone, or break the law where it is sold. Work is reviewed before it goes on sale, and we may refuse or remove anything that breaches this.

You set your own list price in US dollars and choose the royalty split and payout schedule for each title. Removing a book from sale does not cancel purchases already made; readers who bought it keep their access.

Author subscriptions

Publishing runs on a subscription. The plan you choose sets how many titles you may have on sale and which formats and features you get. Subscriptions are charged as a single payment for each period, in the currency you select at checkout.

If your bank allows us to keep your card on file, we renew the subscription automatically when the period ends and email you the receipt. You can switch automatic renewal off at any time from your subscription page. If we cannot keep the card, nothing is charged automatically and we email you before the period ends so you can renew yourself.

Cancelling stops future charges. You keep the plan you have already paid for until the end of that period; we do not refund part of a period that has already started. Books you published remain online.

Earnings and payouts

Your earnings are your agreed share of each sale, recorded in your dashboard as sales happen. The split is the one set for your account at the time of the sale.

Payouts are made in US dollars by international transfer, so the account you nominate must be able to receive US dollars and must carry full beneficiary details — a SWIFT/BIC code, or an ABA routing number for a US account, together with the account holder’s address. Payout details cannot be name-checked with your bank in advance, so you are responsible for entering them correctly.

The minimum payout is $10. We may withhold a payout while a KYC check, a suspected fraud, or a copyright complaint against your work is being resolved.

Reviews and conduct

Reviews come from verified purchases and are checked by a moderator before they appear. Do not post anything abusive, defamatory, or unrelated to the book, and do not attempt to inflate or attack a rating.

Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, or to scrape, copy or redistribute the catalogue.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the service available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. Maintenance, provider outages and faults happen.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the courts of Nigeria.
